Jonathan Blackwood serves as Chief Investment Officer and Founding Partner of Shinkin Gather InfoTech Inc. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Doctorate in Finance from the same institution. His research focuses on asset valuation of cross-border tech enterprises and risk control for long-term industrial investment. During his doctoral studies, he published six academic papers on cross-border capital allocation, several of which were included in authoritative North American financial journals.
From 2009 to 2016, Jonathan worked at Global PE Partners, a top global private equity firm, as Managing Director of the Technology Division, taking full charge of the full-cycle investment work including due diligence, valuation and post-investment management for global tech startups. During his tenure, he made forward-looking layouts in cloud computing and AI chips. In 2012, he led equity investments in three North American cloud service startups, delivering a 3.2x asset appreciation as the companies expanded their businesses over three rounds. In 2014, he completed due diligence and investments in four chip R&D enterprises, building a segmented asset portfolio that effectively hedged cyclical risks in single industries. Over seven years in practice, he led cross-border tech investment projects totaling over USD 1.8 billion, and created a standardized investment due diligence template covering financial modeling, technical barrier assessment and market cycle forecasting, which the firm adopted for all overseas investment operations.
In 2017, he joined Shinkin Gather InfoTech Inc. as a core founding member and built a full-process standardized internal investment evaluation system from scratch, split into three independent assessment modules: technical due diligence, market growth research and long-term financial modeling, unifying review and decision-making standards for all investment projects in North America and South Korea. For the three landmark cross-border cooperation projects of the firm, he independently designed the underlying capital structure, asset valuation models and investor profit distribution rules:
1. For the 2018 Decentraland metaverse cooperation project, he calculated the long-term appreciation potential of virtual land assets and designed tiered crowdfunding contribution ratios and layered profit settlement rules.
2. For the 2020 precision medicine cooperation project with Novartis Switzerland, he split phased investment milestones for targeted drug R&D and matched corresponding dividend schemes for investors at each stage.
3. For the 2022 NextEra Energy special green energy fund, he completed cash flow forecasting for photovoltaic and energy storage power stations, setting a stable annual return range of 6% to 8%.
He is in charge of the firm’s 10–15 year global cutting-edge technology investment master plan, dubbed the "Future Atlas" strategic initiative, which advocates controlling long-term deep investment strategies. He spearheaded the launch of a USD 500 million special strategic M&A fund dedicated to equity acquisitions of global hard-tech innovation enterprises. On a daily basis, he releases monthly risk assessment reports covering the firm’s four core global investment tracks, shared with operational teams in the US and South Korea to provide data support for regional project expansion. Every six months, he delivers professional training to internal investment teams, sharing hands-on methodologies for cross-border asset valuation and cross-border risk control.
