LINK Global Oncology Summit Launches in Beijing With Cross-Border Deals to Expand Radiotherapy Access

2026-08-20

The inaugural LINK Global Summit on Innovation & Practice in Oncology was held August 15 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, co-hosted by the International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center (IHECC) of China's National Health Commission and LinaTech (Beijing) TF Medical Science and Technology Co.Ltd. (“LinaTech”), a leading Chinese developer of intelligent radiotherapy systems. The Summit drew more than 30 overseas speakers from over 20 countries and more than 100 domestic radiotherapy experts, joined by ministerial-level officials and academicians.

Wang Jian, Deputy Director of the IHECC, delivered opening remarks on China's commitment to cross-regional health cooperation. Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Adeboye Salako, Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare of Nigeria, led an official delegation to the Summit and addressed Africa's growing cancer burden — a rare ministerial-level visit to an industry-co-hosted oncology meeting.

“Nigeria, and much of Africa, faces a dual burden of communicable and non-communicable diseases. Cancer incidence is rising rapidly, yet our capacity in radiotherapy equipment, specialized personnel and standardized treatment systems remains far from adequate,” Minister Salako said. “China's advances in radiotherapy and its 'equipment + technology + training' model offer a practical pathway for Africa, and we look forward to using Nigeria as a hub to strengthen cancer care across West Africa.”

Academician Jun Ma, Deputy President of Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered opening remarks by video, calling for “technology sharing” and “talent co-cultivation” in international medical cooperation. Academician Jinming Yu, President of Shandong Cancer Hospital and a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, delivered the keynote address, “The Next Decade of Precision Oncology: From Technological Breakthroughs to Systemic Transformation.”

China–Africa radiotherapy working group launched

A centerpiece of the Summit was the official launch of the Radiotherapy Working Group under the China-Africa Hospital Alliance (CAHA RT Group), jointly led by Shandong Cancer Hospital — the affiliated cancer hospital of Shandong First Medical University — and LinaTech, with Academician Jinming Yu serving as lead and the working group registered with the IHECC. It will establish a standing platform for China-Africa radiotherapy collaboration under the principles of “sincerity, real results, amity and good faith” and “extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits.”

VenusX clinical training bases unveiled across three regions

LinaTech also launched its VenusX Clinical Training Base program spanning three regions and six institutions: Peking University Shougang Hospital (Beijing); the Fourth Hospital of Hebei Medical University and Hebei Yanda Ludaopei Hospital (North China); and Duke Kunshan University, the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (East China). The bases will provide standardized clinical training to domestic and international trainees.

Strategic signings extend global cooperation

Two strategic agreements were signed. A China–Nigeria strategic cooperation agreement positions Nigeria as a hub for West Africa, covering equipment deployment, talent development and clinical capacity building.

A growing global footprint

With three decades in radiation oncology, LinaTech is accelerating its global expansion. Its flagship VenusX medical electron linear accelerator received U.S. FDA clearance in 2024, making it the only Chinese-developed accelerator with both Chinese and U.S. regulatory clearance. The company has completed installations in eight countries and holds market access in more than ten countries and regions. In June 2026, LinaTech completed the first installation of a Chinese-developed medical linear accelerator in Africa, in Zimbabwe, and has become the first Chinese radiotherapy vendor to complete installations in Russia, Belarus and a U.S. hospital in Los Angeles.

The company's Zimbabwe “turnkey project” delivered end-to-end solutions — from bunker planning and equipment supply to physician training — for two leading public hospitals, with its impact already extending to Zambia, Nigeria and neighboring countries.

“We are moving from exporting equipment to exporting capability,” said Cathy Li, General Manager of LinaTech. “The LINK Summit, the China-Africa working group and our global training network mark a shared commitment to making precision radiotherapy more accessible worldwide.”
